My Elements - Neil & Amita

Introducing My Elements and Me: Neil, the Dyslexic Business Owner

Hi, I’m Neil! For those who know me, you’re probably aware that I’m severely dyslexic. Writing — whether it’s blogs, articles, emails or even social media posts — has always been something I’ve shied away from. My biggest fear? That I might write something that reflects poorly on my business or the amazing team I work with.

But times have changed. With the emergence of AI, I’ve found a renewed sense of confidence to give blogging and article-writing a go. AI has become a tool to help me communicate more effectively, and it’s given me the push to share my experiences, tips, and tricks. My hope is to inspire the next generation of dyslexics, proving that running a business isn’t just possible — it can be incredibly rewarding.

Shifts in Neurodiversity Awareness

In recent years, there’s been a remarkable shift in how neurodiversity is perceived in the workplace and in business. More companies are recognizing that individuals with conditions like dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent traits bring unique skills and perspectives to the table.

This growing visibility has created a more inclusive environment where people like me feel empowered to step forward and embrace our differences as strengths rather than limitations. Businesses are increasingly celebrating diverse ways of thinking, and this shift is inspiring a cultural change toward innovation, creativity, and understanding.

As someone who has faced challenges in traditional settings, I know how transformative it can be to work in a space where you’re understood and valued. At My Elements, I aim to contribute to this progress by fostering a workplace and community that supports individuality and celebrates neurodiversity.

So Who/What Is My Elements?

My Elements is a family-run business dedicated to helping other companies stand out from the crowd. We specialise in branded workwear and promotional products, catering to businesses both large and small, as well as clubs, and even the Film and TV industry. We have been running since 1999 and built a wealth of knowledge along the way, in a ever changing industry.

In May 2024, we moved to Hertfordshire after spending 23 years in London, and it’s been an amazing journey ever since the move. Our new location has opened up fresh opportunities, and we’re absolutely loving the vibrant and growing community here. Also in a addition we have also acquired our first UV printer (2025) which you will hear more of later this month.

Why Write Now?

Running My Elements has taught me so much, not just about business but about overcoming personal challenges. Dyslexia doesn’t define me—it’s just one part of my story. The growing awareness and celebration of neurodiversity have inspired me to speak up and share my journey. We as a family have never wanted to be in the limelight and are happy to work hard in the background to create great workwear, clubwear, and promotional items for our clients. Our focus has always been on delivering high-quality products and building strong, lasting relationships with the businesses and communities we serve.

However by writing this blog, I hope to show that challenges like dyslexia aren’t obstacles — they’re opportunities to think differently and innovate. Whether you’re a fellow dyslexic, a budding entrepreneur, or someone curious about our services, I’d love for you to follow along. I’ll be sharing insights about business, creative branding, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Here’s to embracing our differences and making the most of them.

Cheers,

Neil
